Runs until January 3
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive R.I.D.E (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign kicked off this week and runs until January 3, 2021. The campaign is an annual police enforcement and education initiative aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season.
The Northumberland OPP is committed to ensuring our roads are safe from alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. Our members will be highly visible as they conduct R.I.D.E check points at various locations throughout the County during the campaign and throughout the year.
Our members would like to recognize and thank members of the public who continue to report suspected impaired drivers. Many of these drivers are caught because of concerned citizens being conscious of irregular or erratic driving behaviours that continue to put other motorists at risk.
However, you choose to celebrate this holiday season the Northumberland OPP encourages everyone to plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home. Remember that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
